End Of Term 2 :
Assistant Principal's Report
Subject Selection 2027
Current students in Years 9 and 10 have completed workshops on how to select their preferred subjects for 2027.
Students have received personalised emails from Atlantis on behalf of South Oakleigh College where students can click a link to open the subject selection portal and select their preferences.
Students are encouraged to consult Morrisby Reports and read the 2027 Senior School Coursebook to help make informed decisions.
The due date for submission is July 13, 2026.
Course Counselling sessions will begin early in Term 3.
Student Entry and Exit into the Main Building
Beginning Term 3, students will be directed to enter and exit the main building from the entrances on the north side of the building (Gate 1 Entry) unless they are accompanied by a parent or carer. This applies at all times of the school day.
This change has been introduced to reduce the volume of student traffic through the front of the school to help support the work of our administration staff.
Students will be permitted to use the following entry and exit points:
- North side entrances
- Canteen entrance
- Doors near the Year 10 locker bay/ Food Studies Room
This makes good practical sense — the bike shed, lockers and most general classrooms are all accessible from the north side of the building.
Our Facilities team will be working towards labelling the doors to support this transition.
Semester 1 Reports
Reports will be available on Friday 26 June via Compass.
These reports will provide you with a comprehensive overview of student progress, including Victorian Curriculum achievement, along with learning task and exam grades.
However, you will notice that full descriptive comments and Work Habits are not included in this semester due to industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
As always, there is more extensive feedback available for each learning task through Compass learning tasks. We encourage you to take some time to look through this feedback with your child and talk about their report.
2026 Years 10-12 Subject Selection
Students studying in Years 9 and 10 have recently selected their preferred subjects for 2026 following a per-recorded presentation sent to families about Senior School Pathways and the selection process. Families are welcome continue to view It is important to note that there are several steps still to be followed before academic courses are confirmed for 2026.
Following this initial subject selection period, students will meet with members of the leadership team for additional counselling to support student choices based on interests, aptitude and future aspirations.
Both the Director of Students and our Careers practitioner are available should you wish any further information or advice.
It is important that this process is completed early as student preferences impact on staff recruitment and timetable planning.
The Year 10 program in 206 has been carefully designed to provide increased flexibility to meet the needs of our student community by providing a range of year long and semester-long electives; programs that foster curiosity and enhance agency whilst providing a high support, high challenge environment for all students to develop the skills and knowledge to support a successful transition in their VCE years.
Current Year 9 students will be able to express interest in accelerating their VCE studies via application in early term 3.

Student Absences
If a student is unable to attend school, is going to be late or needs to leave early, the school must be informed of ALL absences: whether it be illness, appointments, holidays or any other reason.
The easiest way to inform The School is to Login to Compass with your Parent Login and ADD A PARENT APPROVAL.
Any unexplained absences will be followed up by Student Services if your child is absent without an explanation.
Student Accident Insurance
Parents and guardians are reminded that the Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance for students while at school or during any school related activity including camps and excursions.
Parents and guardians are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including any transport costs. Student accident insurance policies are available from some commercial insurers. These cover a range of medical expenses not covered by Medicare or private health insurance.
It is also highly recommended that families have Ambulance Victoria Membership Cover if it is not included in your private health cover. Ambulance costs are very expensive and are not covered by Medicare.
Uniform
Families are reminded that full winter uniform is to be worn when travelling to and from the College. This includes ties and blazers. The College scarf can also be worn for extra warmth and can be purchased from our uniform supplier, PSW.
PSW have informed us that they now have a full complement of uniform at their Cheltenham store available for purchase.
