Year 3 camp review

Our Year 3's went on their very first school camp this week and had an absolute ball. They overcame fears, deepened friendships and enjoyed being out in nature at Mt Evelyn.
Our Sustainability Leader and Year 3 Team Leader, Miss Sarah said it was a beautiful experience that brought the year level together. “Having quality time with the kids in nature, it was so beautiful!”
The happy campers took part in a range of exciting activities, including the giant swing, flying fox, low ropes course, hut building, and the hugely-popular Gaga Ball. Many students stepped well outside their comfort zones, encouraging one another and celebrating each other's successes.
“This camp really helped students with teamwork. They faced challenges that felt difficult at first, but by talking through problems and working together, they achieved great outcomes. That’s what camps are all about – pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, going that extra mile and solving problems together. Seeing the look on their faces after overcoming a challenge, and knowing exactly what they were feeling - it was just amazing!” - Mr Brydon, 3A Teacher and PE Teacher
We asked the students what they thought:
“My favourite thing about camp was the big swing, it was 18m high!” – Archie B
“I really liked the flying fox and all the fun activities we could do in free time, like Gaga Ball which all the Year 3s played together. It's a game where you stand in a circle and there’s a ball in the middle and you hit the ball with your hand and if it touches your foot, you’re out.
We also had a big disco which was really, really fun! There were lots of glowing lights and Mr Brydon was the DJ! And we did the macarena and lots of funny dances.” – Grace R.
“My favourite thing about going on camp was the big swing and I liked going on the low ropes.” – Edward B.
“I really liked ultimate survivor because we got to build a hut. Food was really good and breakfast was the best! There was lots of cereal and toast, and eggs and bacon.” – Mael A.
When asked if they were looking forward to camp next year, the response was unanimous: “Yes, definitely!”
It wasn't just the kids who enjoyed the trip, the parents did as well!
“It was so incredible, the kids were all amazing, so supportive of each other. Everybody looked like they had a great time and the teachers were absolutely fabulous. I feel very lucky to have been a part of it.” – Janetta, parent volunteer.
