Integrated

We are well into our unit looking at life cycles of plants and animals. This week we set up an experiment where we are attempting to grow marigold seeds.

Our aim is to grow marigolds in small posts in the classroom. We are observing whether different variables will affect the growth of the marigold seeds. For each group we will have a control pot and several variable pots. The variables for the experiment included changing the light, temperature, soil type and water or liquid that the seeds/plant is fed.

Over the next few weeks we will make and record our observations and attempt to draw conclusions about how to best grow marigold seeds within our classrooms.

Maths

Our location and mapping unit has involved looking at what maps are and their different purposes. We have looked at components of maps and what necessary features they should include to make them effective.

Students were then tasked with creating their own maps and using cardinal points and grid referencing to hide unmarked treasure within these maps.

Autumn Artwork

Our creative 3/4B students made the most of the changing seasons by diving into a stunning autumn-inspired art project! After exploring the school grounds to collect a vibrant palette of fallen leaves and natural materials, the students set to work bringing their imaginations to life. Whether working independently or collaboratively in small teams, they transformed their findings into a marvelous array of characters, intricate scenery and lifelike animals. The classroom was filled with a wonderful sense of fun and mindfulness as everyone focused on their designs. We were incredibly proud of their amazing artwork - be sure to ask them about their masterpieces!
