National Reconciliation Week

This week, students across Anglesea Primary School have been participating in a range of learning experiences and activities to recognise National Reconciliation Week. Held annually from 27 May to 3 June, National Reconciliation Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

This year's theme, "All In," highlights the importance of everyone playing a role in advancing reconciliation and supporting the rights of First Nations peoples. Throughout the week, students have engaged in classroom discussions, stories, artworks and other learning activities that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and deepen their understanding of reconciliation. We are proud of the thoughtful and respectful way our students have embraced these opportunities to learn, reflect and work together towards a more inclusive future.

Cold & wet weather

As the colder weather sets in, we have noticed an increasing number of casual jumpers and hoodies being worn at school. We kindly ask families to support our School Uniform Policy by ensuring students wear approved school uniform items wherever possible. Wearing the school uniform helps foster a sense of belonging, pride and equality across our school community. If your family requires any support in accessing uniform items, please don't hesitate to contact the school. After School Care Update

Unfortunately, our current After School Care program has once again proven financially unviable, and YMCA Forrest Skills will be concluding their service at the end of Term 2. We would like to sincerely thank the YMCA team for their support of our school community throughout the first semester. Despite their efforts, we were unable to achieve the enrolment numbers required to sustain the program.

As one door closes, another opens. We are excited to announce that from Term 3 we will be partnering with Coerver Coaching, recognised as the world's leading soccer skills teaching method. While further details will be shared in the coming weeks, the intention is for sessions to commence at 3:30pm and provide an additional after-school option for families. Prior to the end of term, Coerver Coaching will also be running a number of clinics at school, giving students the opportunity to experience the program firsthand and develop their soccer skills in a fun and engaging environment.

As we head into the long weekend, we hope all of our students and families enjoy a well-deserved break and have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday.
