Transition and 2026 Staffing
On Tuesday 9 December 2025, CNPS students from Foundation – Year 5 participated in a meet the teacher and peers transition session for 2026. This year we extended the time students spent in their 2026 classes, giving everyone an opportunity to settle in, ask questions and complete some ‘get to know you’ activities. Tuesday was also an opportunity to welcome back Mary D’Cruz who returns to the CNPS teaching team in 2026.

REMINDER Class Structures 2026
As mentioned in previous newsletters, CNPS has spent much of 2025 reviewing our programs and beginning our transition to the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. As part of the review and to ensure we can continue to strengthen our early literacy and numeracy teaching and learning, CNPS will be moving to straight year levels from Foundation – Year 2 in 2026. We will continue our multi-age learning approach for our Year 3-6 students.
Library Stuff
Hi Fam,
Relax. This is NOT an end of year news item. Fair dinkum, if I hear one more ‘wow, can you believe it’s the end of the year ALREADY???’, I will go crackers. And no one needs to be around for that.
What I will say is thanks for having such ace kids. It’s been a topsy turvy year but we came through with our smiles and our love of books intact. Mostly.
As the building works are taking longer than planned, the library will be moving at the start of term one next year. I’ll keep you in the loop (or the library chain of love!).
I’ll be sending home overdue notices tomorrow where applicable. Please have a good search for any missing books. They need to come home asap. If you find them next week they can be left at the office or on my desk if it’s a Mon/Tues (I’m not here on those days).
In excellent news, if you weren’t aware, The Little Bookroom has re-opened and moved to East Brunswick Village. The shop is beautiful, as is their dedication to children's literature. A great place to get your kid’s holiday /Xmas books. And no, I have no shares in the business, but if you mention our school to them when you’re purchasing books, they’ll donate 5% of the sale to us. It can add up quickly, which is a total win for us. Here's a link to their website https://www.littlebookroom.com.au/ They also have monthly book groups for kids of various ages. Take a look at their website. Well worth a gander.
Lastly, I hope you all get some chill time with your families over the break and you read some great books. That will require putting your phones away. (Stern library manager look accompanies this recommendation 😉).
Looking forward to seeing most of you next year. Best of luck to our wonderful Grade 6 students. I hope high school is a hoot.

A New Year of Learning
A new school year is an exciting time for students and families, but it can be a big step – particularly for those starting Foundation, secondary school or VCE.
The Department of Education has a webpage with resources and information to help you prepare for the new school year.
During the school holidays, please consider reading through the resources, which include:
- tips to help transition from kinder to Prep, primary to secondary school, and Year 10 to VCE
- what to expect at school
- help with school costs and fees
- health and wellbeing guidance to support children’s mental health.
Please refer to the New year of learning webpage.
Outstanding School Event Payments - Action Required
As we rapidly approach the end of the school year, the administration team must finalise all outstanding payments for 2025. You can check the status of event payments on Compass through the Events page. Payments can also be made at the office. Please make payment by Friday 12 December. Thanks
