Grade 5 & 6
Term 4 Week 7
The Grade 5/6 students have had a productive and exciting fortnight filled with learning, leadership and connection.
Over the past two weeks, our classes have been diving into intensive learning blocks in Mathematics. Students have been working hard to develop their strategies for division, exploring efficient written methods, understanding remainders, and applying their skills to real-life problem-solving tasks. We have also begun a focused unit on measurement, where students have been estimating, comparing and converting units for length, area and volume. Their confidence and accuracy has shown wonderful growth, and we are proud of the persistence they have demonstrated.
Our Grade 5 students had a very special moment this week when they met their 2026 Prep Buddies for the first time at school. There were big smiles, warm welcomes and plenty of excitement as students chatted, read together and began forming the relationships they will build on throughout next year. It was beautiful to see how caring, calm and responsible our Grade 5s were as they stepped into their new buddy roles.
This week also marked a milestone for our budding young leaders. Grade 5 students presented their leadership speeches to their peers and teachers, outlining the qualities they bring and the ways they hope to contribute to our school community next year. We were incredibly impressed by the confidence, preparation and maturity shown by all students. Regardless of the positions they may or may not receive, each student should be proud of the courage and effort they displayed.
