LitSTEM

The Year 4 students have been lucky enough to go to Kilbreda for LitStem. This week was their final session. They tested different metals to see what colour they would make when heat was applied using a Bunsen burner.

Thirty four of our Year 5/6 students went to RAMs Rugby in Moorabbin to compete in a Touch Footy Tournament. Despite the weather, everyone had a great time.

Eva - It was a good day except for the rain and then being cold, particularly in our first game. But then the sun came out. It was fun to compete against other schools. My muscles are sore today!

Jasper - I had fun during the games and slept really well last night!

A big thank you to Elies, Tahlia (our mascot who ended up playing with the Year 5's!!), Miss Richards and Mrs Flavelle.

News from I/2R

1/2R had a very busy morning writing a Haiku poem in their Literacy block.  Today's subject was Mrs Sullivan and we think they nailed it:

  • Nouns - Mrs Sullivan, Principal,

  • Adjectives - smart, kind, cheeky, funny; and

  • Verbs - working, helping, protecting

  Well done 1/2R.

Merry Christmas- Family Fun Activity

Gallery Image

For the next few weeks of term we are asking families to create their own Christmas snowflake to decorate our school.

Snowflakes are unique collections of ice crystals, did you know they are always six-sided? They are translucent, not white, but they appear white due to the light scattering off their surface. A snowflake's final design is a result of its journey through the atmosphere. Temperature and humidity determine its shape and complexity.

The snowflake artwork can be a drawing, textile piece, painting or a sculpture. The materials you use can’t be purchased, you may however beg, steal (as long as you ask) or borrow the materials you need. Please try to use things you already have at home.

The Christmas snowflakes are due the week beginning Monday 1st December. This is so that all the snowflakes can be displayed during the final days of term. All snowflakes will need to be taken home by the children during the last few days of term, Week 11.

Task rules

  • One snowflake per family.

  • Recycled materials to be used.

  • The snowflake can be any height/width of up to a maximum of 1 Metre. (remember you have to transport it to and from school).

Enjoy making your family snowflake, we can’t wait to make St Brigid’s sparkle ready for Christmas.

Christmas Family Fun Afternoon

Reminder!! The Christmas Carols are next Wednesday. The students will be performing their songs and actions. The dress code is Christmas!!
