Principal's Report
By Carolyn Serpell
The end of term is fast approaching and, with a number of events happening, it will be a very busy couple of weeks.

Our Prep-6 swimming program will conclude tomorrow. Once again, this has been extremely successful, and everyone was appreciative of a few warmer days, after the chilly start to the week. Many thanks to everyone for their support with this program, and a big shout out to Steph, Bron, Mary, Eve, Issac, Chris, Lisa, Daisy and Maddie, for their instruction and providing our students with this opportunity.
Last night, some of our students enjoyed a showcase performace in the Junior Band at the Jessie Hollands Studio with Abramo. Congratulations to Peter and Craig on receiving a Certificate of Excellence in Music.

On Monday, family and friends are invited to join us at 2.30pm, in the multi-purpose building, for a presentation of 'Finding our Beat'. Students in Prep-6 will be showcasing their learning in music, with Emily, over the term and we encourage you not to miss it!
Tuesday, 9th December, is the Statewide Transition Day. On this day, all students, from kinder to Year 6, will spend their day with their 2026 class and teacher/school. Please note that kinder students will attend from 9am - 2pm.
Tomorrow, Prep/1's will be presenting at assembly, and next Friday 12th December, will be our final assembly for the year. We hope that all families are able to attend as we present our annual awards and recognise individual contribution and achievement. A light morning tea will be provided after assembly.
Our school library is now closed to students for borrowing and we ask that all library books be returned by next week please. This will allow our staff to undertake a stocktake and reset for 2026.

Commencing tomorrow, students in Year 6 will be undertaking two sessions of whitewater awareness classes. Tomorrow, they will learn about the theory behind whitewater, understanding river features, how they form, what’s a safe feature and what’s a hazard. Subject to suitable weather and water conditions, in the last week of term, they will also spend a class on site at the Kiewa River, at a popular swimming location, to practice dentifying river features, discussing what causes them to form, how to respect the river, how to be safe and how to keep their friends safe. Many thanks to Jarrod Quinn from the Outdoor School and other qualified staff for giving their time to share this valuable knowledge, with our students.

On Friday 12th December, our choir, together with the Spookie Ukies and kindergarten, will perform some carols, at the annual Lions Club's Carols by Candlelight event. Students will be performing in front of the Jessie Hollands Studio on the lawn, starting at 6pm. A note will be sent home with our chior and spookie ukies students confirming their partcipation and set up time.

On Tuesday 16th December, the Year 6 students will perform their play, The Enchanted Bookshop, at the Community Centre. All students in Prep-6 will attend a free matinee performance at 11.30am, ahead of the main performance, at 6.30pm. Entry to the evening performance is by gold coin donation and is open to family, friends and the wider community.
As I am now on a period of long-service leave, this will be my last newsletter for year. Over the next two weeks, I will be back-filled by Nicole, Dave and Steph. My thanks to them and all staff for their support and dedication to our students and families over this year.
My thanks also to families, and our broader community, for your support of our school and the contributions you have made to our school, this year. We greatly value your partnership around learning and all that you do to help make our school the best it can be.
I would also like to acknowledge those families, for whom this is the last year with Mount Beauty Primary School and wish you and your child all the very best as they embark on their next stage of education.
I wish you all a happy and safe festive season and summer, and look forward to seeing you next year.
