Thank You

2025 has been a year filled with so many blessings. We are so fortunate to have a dedicated team of teachers, teacher aides and administration staff who are focussed on supporting every student. The activities provided to our students extend from meeting their diverse range of learning needs to offering opportunities for further growth and extension. It is a privilege to work alongside such passionate, driven and knowledgeable staff.

All students have shown tremendous growth throughout the year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading their Semester 2 Reports. The College will alert parents via the College App when the reports will be published and able to be viewed, in the first week of the holidays.

Thank you and farewell to our Year 6 cohort. You have been exceptional leaders and excellent ambassadors for our College. Thank you for letting your light shine throughout the year.

I am grateful for the Parent Coordinators, who helped with the organisation of various events throughout the year and I would also like to give a special thank you to Beatrice Peters for all her efforts as the Class Parent Coordinator Lead and wish her well as she ends her time as a parent of Clayfield College.

Wishing you all happy holidays and all the good health and happiness for the year ahead.

Class Allocations 2026

Class placements for 2026 will be released to families on Friday 5 December 2025.

As mentioned, much time and effort has been placed into these decisions, with the teacher’s knowledge of friendships and how their students work best in the classroom. Considerations are also made on new students to the College and student learning needs across the cohort, to support a balanced class in all areas.

We appreciate your trust in our expertise in forming our classes for 2026, which are prepared with thorough review and discussion with the Primary Teaching Staff.  Whilst we understand parents may have requests for specific teachers or peer groups, this is not our process, and we appreciate your/ understanding.

Lighthouse

This year, we made great strides in training academic staff at the College on the use of our new Learning Management System, Lighthouse. In Term 4, we initiated a pilot trial with students and parents in Years 3, 6 and 10, and we thank these students and parents for engaging with us and providing valuable feedback. As we near the end of the pilot, we look forward to taking everything we have learned and putting it to effective use in 2026.

Lighthouse is an efficient, user-friendly Learning Management System where teachers can manage their classes in both aesthetic and practical ways. It will also serve as a communication hub for all stakeholders at the College. Our aim is to enrol all classes in Lighthouse in 2026.

Below are some examples of Class, Unit, and Course pages created by our highly capable staff.

Pre-Prep Stay and Play

Thank you to all the families who joined Pre-Prep for their Stay and Play morning on Tuesday. As always, the children loved sharing learning activities with their loved ones. A highlight of the morning was showcasing one of Mrs Kiehne’s lessons so families could see the care, skill, and energy she brings to Pre-Prep daily Music experiences. Her thoughtful, intentional teaching supports children to develop listening skills, confidence, and a love of music.

Gallery Walks

Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms were alive with excitement, laughter and conversation on Wednesday afternoon as families visited to view and celebrate their children’s learning. What huge progress has been made by everyone this year! Students proudly showed off work samples, workbooks, reading skills, artworks and classroom displays in celebration of their personal successes. Parents eagerly engaged in broad variety of activities such as Christmas crafts, a Science quiz, a times table contest and enjoyed a Spanish language presentation about caring for plants. Thank you to our amazing teachers for all their dedication and hard work, and to our wonderful families for being so supportive and enthusiastic.

Year 3 Camp In

Although we had to cancel our inaugural Year 3 Camp Out earlier this term, we were determined to make a special day for our students. So, we decided to keep the best bits and enjoy a Camp-In Day!

Students arrived in free dress, adding to the upbeat atmosphere, and were treated with a special goody bag. The day began with cookie decorating, where everyone created adorable reindeer treats. Next, the energy ramped up with a game of Capture the Vest on the oval, followed by a hilarious fashion parade featuring outfits made from toilet rolls. Lots of creativity was on display.

After morning tea, festivities continued with a scavenger hunt that took students all around the school. Then came the highlight, a glow stick party, paired with some fun hula hoop challenges that had everyone laughing and moving. Students and teachers wound down after lunch, with a screening of Horton Hears a Who.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate our Year 3 students and create lasting memories. Thank you to Ms Hollander and Miss O’Brien who helped make this day so special.

Exploring Business in Year 6

As part of our Economics HASS unit, students have been diving into the world of business, exploring concepts such as resources, opportunity costs, trade-offs, and risk management. They’ve embraced entrepreneurial thinking, identifying areas in their lives that could benefit from innovative products or services.

From solar-powered phone cases and home-cooked Uber Eats services to side sleeping reading pillows, multi-compartment water bottles, self-defence tools, and car seat organisers, the creativity, critical thinking and design skills on display have wowed their teachers!

Students are now ready to pitch their ventures at our Shark Tank Gallery Walks on Friday at 2:20pm for 6C class and on Monday at 2:20pm for 6O class. We can’t wait for you to see their businesses come to life.
