After weeks of busy preparations, I felt so proud to finally share our artwork at LUX 25. The whole event felt magical.

As guests arrived, including families, friends, and teachers, I loved watching everyone walk through the LUX 25 gallery in the LRC, where artworks from both Primary and Secondary students were displayed. Hearing people compliment our work and admire everyone’s creativity made all the effort feel worthwhile.

The food was incredible too! I tried authentic dishes from different cultures, including live-cooked chorizo paella and Basque cheesecake from Spain, and vegetable jiaozi, crispy spring rolls, and honey-glazed chicken from China.

In the Chapel, I watched a mix of Chinese and Spanish performances. Ms Chen and her students played beautiful Chinese pieces, while the Spanish class filled the space with traditional songs and dancing. Their confidence and fluency were so impressive.

Over in the Black Box, the first show began at 6:00pm with a Year 9 Drama performance, followed by The Witches performed by the Year 6 students. It was funny, energetic, and so impressive to see how confidently the younger students performed. I also visited the Primary workshops run by Ms Kiehen, where students explored creative fusion techniques.

Later in the evening, we gathered again in the Chapel for the awards ceremony. Watching students from both the Primary and Secondary School receive their awards made me feel proud of our whole school community. You could see how much each award meant to everyone.

Even though the night was stormy, it didn’t take away from the excitement.

The warm lights, buzzing atmosphere and constant laughter made everything feel vibrant and special. LUX 25 concluded with two final shows in the Black Box: a lively Irish dance from Primary School students and the second performance of Recalibrate by the Year 9 Drama class. The final bow and curtain call felt like the perfect ending.

I’m really grateful to Ms Burke, Ms Jones, Mr Walker and everyone who put so much work into creating this event. It was a night full of creativity, celebration, and pride in The Arts LUX 25 truly lets students’ hard work shine and helps us feel more confident in what we can create.

I’m already excited for what we’ll be able to craft next year with our endless imagination!
