Year 3/4

3/4's final Newsletter
This is our final newsletter for the year, and what a wonderful year it has been for our amazing Year 3/4 students. They have shown pleasing growth in their learning, social skills and emotional development, all while building strong and supportive friendships. It has been a joy to watch them flourish, and they are now more than ready to move on to bigger and brighter things as they step into Year 4 and 5 in 2026. We have absolutely loved working with this cohort and wish every one of them the very best as they begin their new adventures next year.
Literacy
Our students have thoroughly enjoyed completing autobiographies about themselves, reflecting on their experiences and sharing what makes them unique. They then delved into research about their favourite famous people, gathering interesting facts and key life events to create well-structured biographies. Throughout this process, they demonstrated great creativity, strong researching skills and thoughtful recording of information. Their final pieces were beautifully published, showcasing both their hard work and growing confidence as writers.
Maths
This term, our students have been actively engaged in exploring transformation through hands-on and creative activities. They investigated flips, slides and turns using images and shapes, and strengthened their spatial awareness by working with grid maps and coordinates through games like Battleship. Students also experimented with birds-eye views by drawing their bedrooms from above, developing a new way of visualising familiar spaces. In addition, they explored symmetry in shapes, images and the environment, creating impressive portraits by using a photo of half their face and then drawing the missing half symmetrically on a grid. Their enthusiasm and creativity shone through in this task.
Humanities
HumanitiesDuring our Humanities unit, students enthusiastically engaged with the coding program Scratch, exploring how digital technologies can be used creatively. They learned to design simple programs that made their names dance across colourful backgrounds, complete with music and animated characters called Sprites. Building on these skills, students then applied their new coding knowledge to create interactive games, which they proudly shared and played with a friend. This unit showcased their growing confidence, problem-solving abilities and creativity in Digital Technologies.
School Concert!
Our students shone during our school concert with their energetic performance to the K-Pop Demon Hunter songs. They put in an incredible amount of practise every week with Mr Smith, and their colourful costumes brought their whole routine to life. We are so proud of each student for being brave, stepping onto the stage, and giving it their absolute best. Well done, everyone—you were amazing!
Thankyou
We would like to wish all our families a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement of our students throughout the year—it has made a huge difference to their learning and growth. We look forward to seeing students return in the New Year.
