Let's THRIVE in 2025

Over the past few weeks we have had swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays where we practise for the annual Swimming Carnival which happened on the 5th of December. All the school houses faced off against each other for house points. The different strokes we did were freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. When all the races were finished there were relay races… one free style and one with all the strokes (a medley). We also got to do some novelty events and jump or dive off the diving board. At the end they added up the scores of all the races and announced the winning house… Fraser! All houses competed with great team spirit and everyone’s swimming has improved!

We wish Shelly H all the best on her retirement from PLC Aquatic. She has been a wonderful advocate for our swimming program and has helped us, as a school community, in ensuring swimming is embedded into our HPE program.
The Health and Physical Education curriculum includes four focus areas which have specific reference to swimming and water safety. These are:
Development of knowledge and skills relating to survival swimming and basic water safety can significantly reduce a child’s drowning risk and enhance community safety.
Thank you Shelly from all of us at OHR. We will miss you.
