YEAR 9/10 CAMP

From the 10th to the 14th of November, a group of students and teachers travelled to Tasmania for an unforgettable adventure. We began bright and early at 4:40am, meeting at Rebel Waurn Ponds before heading to the airport. After a short one-hour flight, all 111 of us landed in Hobart, excited for the week ahead.
On Monday, we caught the ferry to MONA—the Museum of Old and New Art. It was unlike anything we had ever experienced: creative, surprising, and at times a little strange, but always in the best way.
Tuesday took us to the Huon Valley and the Tahune Airwalk. The wind was freezing, but the incredible scenery definitely made up for it. We then visited the Cascade Women's Factory, where we learned about its fascinating history, heard thrilling stories, and even came across a few moments that left us shocked.
On Wednesday, we visited the world-famous Mount Field National Park. The waterfalls were breathtaking, and the forest walks were peaceful and full of wildlife. In the afternoon we visited the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where we got up close with Tasmanian devils, wombats, echidnas, and even fed some very friendly kangaroos. It was a highlight for many of us. That night we had camp trivia with Mr Sommerfield's team emerging victorious.
Thursday was all about exploring Richmond. We visited the bakery, the lolly shop, and the chocolate shop—a definite favourite. That afternoon, we travelled to Port Arthur. We circled the Isle of the dead on a boat tour, and then explored the ruins of the convict settlement. In the evening we joined a ghost tour. Some groups even had unexplainable experiences, which made things both scary and very entertaining.
Finally, on Friday, we made our way back to Hobart, via a convict coal mine and a lavender farm where we picked up some snacks and lunch, and then flew home—tired, but happy.
The Tasmania trip was filled with fun and unforgettable moments. It was a week of learning, exploring, and bonding—an experience we will all remember for a very long time.
