Head of Junior School - Ms Nicola Treacey

Article by Nicola Treacey, Head of Junior School
As we come to the end of a busy and rewarding year in the Junior School, I want to acknowledge the many moments of growth, joy, and achievement our students have experienced throughout 2025. Their enthusiasm for learning and their willingness to challenge themselves has been truly inspiring.
Throughout the year, students have built strong foundations across all learning areas. Whether exploring texts, tackling new mathematical ideas, investigating scientific concepts in Mandarin, expressing themselves through the Arts, or developing skills in Physical Education, they approached each opportunity with curiosity and confidence. Their persistence, creativity, and readiness to learn from mistakes were evident across the year levels, these dispositions will support them to continue to grow and develop as they continue into next year.
Camps and excursions provided some of the most memorable experiences of the year. These opportunities encouraged students to step beyond the classroom, work collaboratively, develop independence, and build new friendships. From local adventures to activities on camp, the excitement and sense of discovery were a highlight for many of the students in Junior School.
This term we also welcomed our incoming 2026 Prep students during our Transition program. Their enthusiasm as they explored classrooms, met teachers, and connected with new peers was wonderful to witness, and we look forward to welcoming them fully into our school community next year.
Our Year 4 students have spent the term preparing for their transition to Middle School. Through a visit to the Yirramboi Campus, meeting staff, and participating in transition activities, they have developed confidence and a sense of readiness for the opportunities that lie ahead. Their Final Assembly was a heartfelt celebration of their time in the Junior School and a moment to acknowledge their achievements and contributions. While we will miss them, we know they are well prepared for the next chapter.
To the students and families moving on from the Junior School, thank you for your support, partnership, and involvement over the years. Your children have made a meaningful impact on our community, and we look forward to hearing about all they will accomplish in the future.
As I reflect on the year, I am reminded of what a privilege it is to lead the Junior School. The students’ energy, joy, and curiosity enrich each day, and I too have learned so much alongside them. There have been challenges and moments of growth for all of us, and I am grateful to our dedicated staff and to every family for your ongoing support.
As we head into the Christmas break, I wish all families a safe, restful, and joyful holiday. Thank you for your continued support throughout 2025. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026 for another wonderful year of learning and growth.
