Year 6: Night of Notables

AnnMarie Huddleston, Year 6 Teacher

Our Year 6 students dazzled audiences at their “Night of the Notables” history showcase, transforming the hall into a vibrant museum of Australian changemakers. Each student investigated a significant person, group, or event that sparked positive change in our nation, uncovering inspiring stories of bravery, creativity, and determination.

They explored how God worked through these individuals to guide decisions and motivate acts of justice and kindness. From trailblazers in science to champions of community and faith, every display buzzed with colour and energy. The students did an excellent job utilising their research and creativity skills to provide their audience with a wonderful exhibition.

Junior Primary Music Concert

Judy Paterson, Junior Primary Music Teacher

On Tuesday, the wonderful Prep to Year 2 students radiated the wonder of God’s love at the Junior Primary Music concert!  With sweet and powerful voices, they sang, played percussion, and danced.

Our students delighted to present God’s love as strong, kind, boundless, swift, free, deep, unmeasured, and so on.  The stage was aglow with joy and thankfulness as voices were raised, singing to our wonderful loving God.

The show started with the jazz dancers who wowed the audience with their energetic moves. They were dynamite, which happened to also be the title of the piece of music they were dancing to!

A gifted group of string players from year two, played ‘Frere Jacques’.  They played this music in a round, and it was just lovely!  Altruisko Sempuno and Ethan Kusnadi, also in Year 2, each had the opportunity to present their excellent skill on the piano.  They shone as they presented their pieces confidently, delighting the audience with their musicianship.

Some of our amazing captains, Ezra, Eian, Maisie and Lucy did a great job at hosting the concert, and presenting all the items.  Well done Preps, Year 1’s and 2’s!

Senior Primary Music Concert

David Bonfa, Primary Music Teacher

On Tuesday, 2 December, we gathered as a school community to celebrate the joy of music at DCC, showcasing a vibrant selection of our Primary ensembles. Throughout the afternoon, we were treated to performances from the Foundation and Junior Vocal Ensembles, the Intermediate String Orchestra, Junior Woodwinds, the Year 5 Chamber Group, our enthusiastic Junior Chimes Ensembles, the ever-popular Drum Club, and a series of creative dance items choreographed and performed by students from Years 4, 5, and 6.

Each group brought something unique — from bold rhythms to gentle melodies — reflecting the dedication, courage, and teamwork of our students. It was a truly wonderful celebration of the musical growth taking place across the school.

As a community, we give thanks to God for the precious gift of music and the privilege of sharing it together. A heartfelt thank-you goes to all our ensemble directors for their passion and leadership, and to our parents for their ongoing support in nurturing and growing this special department. The afternoon was a testament to what can happen when creativity, encouragement, and faith come together.
