Year 3/4 Frisbee Gala Day

Last Friday, our Grade 3/4 students participated in a fantastic Frisbee Gala Day at Fawkner Park, and we could not have asked for a better celebration of teamwork, fun, and community spirit. The day highlighted the importance of moving away from traditional mainstream sports and giving students opportunities to experience something different—something that promotes inclusivity, creativity, and a new kind of challenge.

Frisbee is a unique and rapidly growing sport that develops a wide range of skills, including strategic thinking, spatial awareness, teamwork, and refined throwing and catching techniques. Throughout the day, our students demonstrated excellent communication, quick decision-making, and a strong sense of fair play. Trying a new sport encouraged them to step outside their comfort zone and discover new strengths, showing how movement experiences beyond the familiar can broaden confidence and engagement.

Our school values of Kindness, Gratitude, and Respect were on full display. Students supported one another, showed appreciation for their teammates and opponents, and demonstrated respectful conduct toward all players and officials. It was a wonderful example of how diverse sporting opportunities help foster both skill development and strong character.

A huge thank you goes to our incredible parent helpers – Kate (Finn), Sarah (Tom) Dora (Harvey) and Jules (Raff) whose support allows these days to run smoothly and successfully. We are also extremely grateful to our outstanding Year 6 umpires—Gabe, Charlie, Bella and Poppy—who led with confidence, fairness, and maturity. Their guidance helped ensure that every match was enjoyable and well-managed.

Congratulations to all our Grade 3/4 students for their enthusiasm and willingness to embrace something new. We are proud of the way you represented Middle Park Primary School.

Swimming Lessons

What an incredible week it has been for our students as they completed their annual school swimming lessons! With 45 minutes of swimming each day, it was certainly a big week—challenging, exciting, and at times very tiring. Despite the intensity, our students took everything in their stride, showing resilience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude from start to finish.

Swimming is a vital part of our Physical Education program, with a strong focus on water safety, confidence in the water, and essential life-saving skills. Throughout the week, students practised safe entries, floating and survival techniques, stroke development, and strategies for staying calm and making safe decisions around water. Their commitment to learning and improving these skills is something we are incredibly proud of.

One of the standout features of this year's program was the students’ exceptional adaptability. Each day brought new routines, different challenges, and varying levels of instruction—and they adjusted beautifully. Their organisation, teamwork, and willingness to engage with a structured, fast-paced program made the week a great success.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all our wonderful parent helpers whose support ensures that transitions run smoothly and supervision remains strong. We also extend our thanks to our dedicated teachers for their guidance, encouragement, and attention to detail, ensuring the program operated safely and efficiently.

Congratulations to all students for their effort, behaviour, and determination across the week. You represented Middle Park Primary School with pride, and we are so pleased with the progress and confidence you displayed in the pool.
