F-2

This fortnight, the F-2 students have discussed what Artificial Intelligence is and how society uses AI. We talked about online safety and watched a beautiful book by Nick Bland called the 'The Fabulous Friend Machine' which had a message that not everyone on the internet is your friend and to always be vigilant with personal details and clicking on advertisements. It tells the story in kid friendly language. We will be finishing the year with some fun experiments, engineering with materials and some construction work.

Year 3-6

This fortnight, the 3-6 student has presentation for the Minecraft projects which allowed them to plug in their project to the television and show everyone in detail what they created. They talked in detail about the way they coded within the APP and I was actually blown away. The 5/6s have been busy making Trade Fair advertisements digitally that look appealing to the public eye. They also made some appreciative CANVAS to give to their teachers to show their gratitude for how hard their teachers have worked this year. Some of them were so meaningful- I was crying when I read them!

Physical Education [PE] is a tremendous way to get students active while also teaching them important life skills, improve their physical health, and develop a love for being active.

During PE, students will:

  • focus on fundamental skills [e.g. running, catching, balance]
  • play games to reinforce the skills
  • foster social skills
  • celebrate their efforts, building confidence and a love for sport.

Each session will have a:

  • warm-up activity to get their muscles ready
  • skill development activity
  • fun game - teamwork and cooperation.

We have started PE this term by playing students’ favourite games, teaching the skill of running, and for the 5/6s playing Interschool Sports.

In Art during the past fortnight, we have been continuing on with our unit of 'Literacy in Art'.

In Prep classes we created a rainbow fish using watercolour paints and sequins. The students also experimented with textas and adding water to see what would happen.

In Grade 1/2 students have been working on creating polar bears, using pastels and watercolour paint.

They have also used lines and shapes to create an alpaca, based on the text "Macca the alpaca"  and used wool to make a beanie.

The Grade 3/4 cohort have just finished creating their realistic bees. These were created using pastels for the honeycomb background and coloured pencils for the bees.

The Grade 5/6 classes finished their elephant drawings this week and created their own Hama bead designs, which I ironed for them to bind them together.
