Applied Studies

This term students in Stage 5 were asked a range of questions about what they have been enjoying in their chosen elective course. Those subjects have included Timber, Agriculture, Metal, Food Technology and Computing. 

 

Students were asked about what practical experiences they have enjoyed:

 

Year 10 Computing - “I really enjoyed working hands on with computer parts, It was fun to build computers and also code smaller computers to do morse code.” Jed Cox 

 

 

Year 10 Timber - “The practical revolves around building projects. I have learnt how to use a range of hand and power tools to create my side table project.”

Year 9 Agriculture - “I have really enjoyed spending lessons going to the Ag Plot to learn how to grow plants, working with my hands in the gardens, and learning how to work with Sheep.” Riley Drum 

 

Year 9 Timber - “Learning how to use a number of hand tools to create my four joint frame project and working with Timber.” Lucy Rey 

 

 

Year 9 Timber - “The practical experience I have enjoyed the most has been constructing my frame and learning how to use different tools and machines.” Tom Moller 

 

Year 9 Agriculture - “One of my favourite practical experiences has been working with the chickens, collecting eggs and learning how to care for them.”

Students were asked what one highlight from their elective subject has been:

 

 

Year 10 Food - “Every practical lesson where I get to cook with my friends is a highlight for me.” Sienna Heffernan 

 

 

Year 10 Timber - “Through the skills I have learnt in my Timber course with using hand and power tools, I have been selected to complete a Carpentry course through TAFE.” Noah Stirton 

 

 

Year 9 Agriculture - “Watching my classmates get the sheep into the yards for shearing.” Callum King 

 

 

Year 9 Timber - “Completing my projects and getting to take them home and use the project for a practical purpose” Claire Sutton 

 

 

Year 9 Food - “I really enjoy making a range of meals with friends and then getting to sit and eat together afterwards, discussing the food.”
