Science Dome- Incursion

Grade 1 – Discovering the Day and Night Sky

Our curious Grade 1 students stepped inside the magical dome to explore the basics of day and night, learn about the sun and moon, and discover some of the stars and constellations they might see in the sky. The immersive visuals and fun storytelling helped bring their Earth and Space Sciences curriculum to life in an unforgettable way. The students were amazed as the ceiling transformed into a starry night sky and loved spotting familiar shapes among the constellations.

Grade 4 – A Deeper Dive into Space and Time

Grade 4 students took a more in-depth journey through the cosmos, perfectly complementing their unit on Earth’s place in the solar system. They explored the movement of planets, phases of the moon, and how Earth’s rotation and orbit affect time and seasons. The immersive dome experience reinforced their classroom learning with engaging visuals and expert narration, sparking plenty of thoughtful questions and lively discussions afterward.

Grade 3- Hands on Science Incursion- Exploring Earth and space!

This week, Grade 3 students took part in a fun and engaging 90-minute science incursion focused on Earth and Space Sciences. Students explored the relationships between the Earth, Moon and Sun through hands-on activities and interactive models.

They investigated how the Earth’s rotation causes day and night, how shadows change, and why we experience different seasons. Students also learned about gravity, moon phases, and how solar and lunar eclipses occur by modelling the positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun.

By the end of the session, students had a clearer understanding of the movements in our solar system and were excited to share their new knowledge. It was an out-of-this-world experience!

The Summitt Camp- Grade 6

Last week the Grade 6's embarked on their Summit Camp in Trafalgar. This camp was all about stretching out of their comfort zone, taking risks, teambuilding and adventure. The students participated in activities such as rock climbing, laser tag, obstacle courses and much more. The highlight of the camp was the monster course mud run, students did a fantastic job and showed such persistence and determination. Thank you to all the staff, students, parents and parent helpers for making the camp a success!
