Introducing Teddy Tuesday!
We were excited to trial a heartwarming new initiative with our Year 5s this week: Teddy Tuesday! This exciting program features our beloved wellness dog, Teddy, who isin training to listen attentively to our Year 5 students as they read aloud.
During our library sessions this week, selected students took turns reading to Teddy, practicing their reading fluency in a supportive and engaging environment. Teddy is working to have a calm and patient demeanour to help students feel more confident and motivated to improve their reading skills.
But that's not all! Teddy Tuesday also allowed us to embrace the beautiful outdoors. As we had a clear, crisp mornings, we enjoyed "Nature Reading," where students and Teddy basked in the fresh air while reading in the courtyard outside the library. This unique combination of literacy and nature has proven to be a delightful experience for everyone involved.
We hope to make Teddy Tuesday a regular part of our Year 5 library program, fostering a love for reading and the outdoors in our students. Stay tuned for more updates on this initiative (Teddy and weather permitting!).
