Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub
Over the past fortnight, we celebrated National Volunteer Week 2025, a time to honour the invaluable contributions of volunteers across Australia and here at Springvale Rise Primary School. This year’s theme, ‘Connecting Communities’, underscores the profound impact of volunteering in fostering unity, building relationships, and enriching lives. We are deeply grateful for the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. Whether assisting at the Breakfast Club, supporting our Mother’s Day stall, or providing childminding services to enable mothers to learn English, their efforts are pivotal in creating a supportive and inclusive community. We value each and every one of our volunteers and acknowledge the incredible impact they have in building thriving and inclusive communities. Their commitment exemplifies the spirit of National Volunteer Week and the essence of ‘Connecting Communities’. If you too would like to become a Springvale Rise volunteer, please let Julie know.
In our English class, we engaged in meaningful reflection during National Reconciliation Week. We delved into questions such as "What does reconciliation mean to you?" and "How can we live together in harmony?" Our discussions centred on the resilience and strength of Stolen Generation survivors, acknowledging their painful histories and the enduring impact of their experiences.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, Bridging Now to Next, encourages us to look ahead and continue the push forward towards a more united and respectful nation, guided by the lessons of the past. Reconciliation Australia describes this theme as reflecting the ongoing connection between past, present, and future, urging all Australians to step forward together.
Through our exploration of these themes, our English class students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of reconciliation and the role each of us plays in fostering a harmonious and inclusive society.
