Year 12 Business Management

Yakult…’For everybody…’

The Year 12 Business Management students recently went on an excursion to Yakult, in Dandenong. Here are some of their reflections about seeing a factory in operation.

Student reflections:

The tour was helpful as they used the relevant Operations Management terminology. My first experience of drinking Yakult was ‘fire’.

Sebastian R

Our tour guide Amanda was suitably impressed when I correctly pronounced the name of the probiotic used in Yalkult; which is Lactasei Bacillus Paracasei Shirota. It was cool to see an automated production line in practise.

Spencer N

It was an enjoyable tour because it enabled the development of my educational prowess.

Timothy L

It was interesting to see the employees intervening when a small piece of the production line had to cease, due to a problem with the plastic packaging. This clearly highlights a disadvantage of the automated production process.

Chi K

It was interesting to drink a bottle of Yakult straight from the factory, compared with one off the supermarket shelf. Though I sampled the original version in both cases, the flavour was stronger from the Yakult factory.

Isaac C

It was helpful to be able to see how a production line works in real time, as opposed to just on a video. I liked how they had a display showing the different Yakult bottle designs over the years.
