Year 5
On June 13th, 2025 our Year 5 students travelled to Nundle for the day. We were sorted into the Springbok and Wallaby groups for our activities. When we arrived, the Springboks made their way to the Woolen Mill, while the Wallabies went to the mines. At the Woolen Mill we learnt how to turn wool into yarn and what the process looked like. Our tour guide, Nick, also showed us that when they dyed yarn, it looked like coloured spaghetti. After that, we walked to the touch footy fields and had a break. We ate lunch, played touch footy and made a huge leaf pile to jump in. It was heaps of fun. We walked up to The Gold Mine Museum and took another tour with Brush through the gold mines. We were able to look at pictures and notes that were hung on the wall as well as the mummified cat called Maximus. Overall, Year 5 had an amazing time and we thank the teachers for planning this for us.

SPELLING BEE
On Friday 6 June we held our Spelling Bee final. After two rounds we ended up with our amazing finalists. The words needed to be uplevelled many times to find out who our hyperlexic (One who masterfully spells words with exceptional competence and proficiency) students were for each grade. Kindergarten will have their own Spelling Bee in Term 4 when they have learnt all their initial sounds.
Congratulations to our winners
Year 1 - Emica Libin (Ozanam)
Year 2 - Caleb Buculio (Mackillop)
Year 3 - Tommy Crockett (Ozanam)
Year 4 - Sidney Remorozo (Ozanam)
Year 5 - Moss van Houten (Ozanam)
Year 6 - Sophie Ferguson (Mackillop)
PRIMARY SCHOOLS CHESS COMPETITION
Yesterday a very keen group of 20 students travelled to East Tamworth Primary School to compete in the annual NSW PRIMARY SCHOOLS CHESS COMPETITION.
The students had a great day, playing chess and meeting students from other schools. There were wins and losses throughout the day, but on every occasion our students shook hands and thanked their opponents.
After many rounds one St Nicholas team consisting of Will, Rex, Yaksh and Alex was particularly successful gaining first place at the end of the day.
We eagerly await the next round of competition.
Thankyou to Mrs Hannaford for accompanying us on the day.
STAGE 3 EISTEDDFOD DEBATING FINALS
This term, we have had 2 teams compete in the Tamworth Eisteddfod for Debating. We are fortunate enough to have both teams make it through to the finals. The final will be held at the Tamworth Community Centre this Saturday 21st June at 9:30am. The entry is $5 and doors open at 9:15am. If you are able to come along and support our students, that would be wonderful.
A huge congratulations to these students for all their hard work and dedication!!!
