National Simultaneous Storytime

Last Wednesday, the Junior School participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. This annual event involves students from all around the country reading the same picture book at the same time. This year’s book was 'The Truck Cat' by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell, a story about homes and identity. Our students’ favourite part of this tradition is the connection with our Senior School students.  A very big thank you to Georgie, Carys, Zariah, Zara, Scarlett, Cassidy, Poppy, Ella, Daisy, Will, Grace, Lukas, Thomas, Grace, Billy, Henry and Sam for coming and reading this special story to one of our Junior School classes. At lunch students were invited to continue this event in the library with come creative activities.  We look forward to seeing which book is chosen next year!

Premier’s Reading Challenge 2025

Students in the Junior School are working diligently to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge. It has been wonderful to see students stepping out of their comfort zones and challenging themselves.

Due to some technical difficulties on their website – the PRC have decided to extend the challenge; the new finish date is Friday September 19th. This gives us lots of time to keep reading.

Just in case your information sheets have been misplaced – spare copies have been placed on the library website. You may also wish to refer to the email sent to all parents in March this year.

Kindergarten students are completing their challenge at school. We have a wonderful range of books for all readers in the library – students can ask any member of the library team if they need help choosing their next book.

Congratulations to these 34 students who have already completed the challenge for 2025:

Year 2 – William, Minty, Parker, Lucy, Tilly and Jacob

Year 5 – Andrew, Boris, Roman, Addison, Timothy, Eliza, Toby, Quentin and Fletcher

Year 6 – James, Sophia, Yani,  James, Charlie, Billie, Austin, Henrik, Jackson, Sibella, Jasper, Braden, Harry, Charlotte, Vitoria, Alexander, Samar and Henry

If any students from Years 7-10 would like to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, please email Mrs Holmes, Teacher Librarian Junior School on: hannah.holmes@tphs.nsw.edu.au  and you will be emailed your account information and the details.

Happy reading!
