Year 10 2026: VCE Acceleration
With the commencement of the second semester only a number of weeks away, the process of selecting subjects for 2026 commences early in Term 3. At this time, there is a significant amount of information that is shared with students and their families that will help inform choices. Similarly, the experiences gained through the careers program also assists in getting students to where they want to be.
The opportunity for students to accelerate in their studies- whether that is in Year 10, 11 or 12- is something that is very appealing to a good number of students. The first step for most at St Bede’s College is looking to undertake a Unit 1 VCE subject (normally done in Year 11) whilst they are in Year 10. This involves an application process early in Term 3 to ensure that students are ready for the challenge it presents; without doubt, undertaking an accelerated subject increases pressure on a student and expectations rise.
In support of the process of application- and in order to ensure that families are informed- we will be holding a Year 10 2026 VCE Acceleration Information Evening for current Year 9 students and their families. It is an opt-in event, however if a student is considering applying to accelerate, it is strongly advised that they attend along with a member of their family.
The Information Evening will be held on Monday, 23 June at 7.00 pm at the Mentone Campus, with further details to follow via email to all Year 9 families. Registering for the evening will form part of the lead up to the event. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to make contact with us here at the College and, for those who attend, we look forward to seeing you there.
Exam Preparation
With Exams only a short time away, many students are working to ensure they are prepared so that they can perform at their best when the time arrives. This is not easy, however it can be made easier by listening to advice that is put in place to help and support students and families at this time.
To best support our students, we have compiled practical exam preparation techniques and tips from across key departments of the College here.
