Celebrating connection, community, culture and student agency
At Kilvington, our students are the heart of everything we do — and this edition of our international newsletter proudly reflects that. Across year levels, subjects and cultural experiences, our students are stepping up, speaking out and connecting with others in meaningful and inspiring ways.
This theme of connection continues with a spotlight on the Todoroki High School–Kilvington Online Forum, where Kilvington students met online with students from one of our Japanese partner schools to practise their language skills while sharing cultural knowledge. Their reflections reveal the joy of building bridges across borders and the personal growth that comes from authentic intercultural dialogue.
Global learning is also celebrated through the Kilvington Global Connections Program, with Year 10 student Charley Sanderson sharing her excitement about the upcoming reciprocal French experience with St Joseph La Salle in Toulouse. Her reflections highlight the power of language learning and the lifelong friendships that international tour experiences can foster.
Closer to home, our Year 7 Cultural Day brought French and Japanese to life through hands-on experiences — from crepe-making and pétanque to Taiko drumming, calligraphy and traditional dance. These activities offered students a rich taste of Francophone and Japanese cultures, supported by native-speaking educators and a dynamic program of immersive learning.
This edition also showcases Kilvington’s deep commitment to community and compassion. From Harmony Day and our annual ASRC Food Drive, to students participating in Cut for a Cause and the Year 9 Impact Program’s visit to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, our students continue to demonstrate empathy, leadership and a strong sense of social responsibility.
Finally, we revisit the vibrant energy of the 2025 Kilvington Fair and Open Day, where over 200 volunteers helped bring the day to life. With school tours, student showcases, cultural displays and live performances, it was a celebration of everything that makes Kilvington such a connected and inclusive community.
Together, these stories reflect the core of our school — a place where every student is empowered, every culture is celebrated, and every voice matters. We hope this newsletter offers a glimpse into the heart of Kilvington, and the many ways our students are shaping a better future.
