Cross Country

Strong Results at ISA Cross Country!

Congratulations to our Cross-Country team on a fantastic performance at the recent ISA Championships last Wednesday. Our runners showed incredible determination and school spirit, achieving 3rd place in the Junior, 5th place in the intermediate and 4th place in the Senior Boys divisions and securing 2nd place overall.

A special congratulations to Cristiano Calcarao, who took 1st place in the Under 14 Boys Division, finishing the 4km course in an impressive 14:32, and to Benjamin Fogale, who placed 3rd in the Under 15 Boys Division with a strong time of 14:37. We’re also proud to share that at least one runner from every boy's age group has qualified for the CIS Championships – a remarkable achievement that highlights the dedication and perseverance our students have shown during training. It was wonderful to see their efforts rewarded with such outstanding results on the day.

Those who made CIS include, Hamish Tooher, Aidan McNeilly, Tyler Jago, Niall Jaffrey, Joshua Booth, Leo Boyd-Clark, Benjamin Fogale, Cristiano Calcarao, Matthew Krizan, Lucas Macri, Zac Hayes, Levi Azar, Benjamin Schwulst, Maximilian Allende and Brandon Abram.

Well done to our Cross-Country Captain, Hamish Tooher and all our students who represented the school with pride and resilience!

A huge thank you to our supportive staff – Mr Matthew Stearn and Mr Scott Steinman, along with our dedicated coaches, Chris Zilifian and Ethan Li, for their guidance and encouragement throughout the season.

Debating

The CSDA debating competition wrapped up this week with our final remaining Year 11 team missing out in the 2nd Elimination round in a tight decision. It was a finely argued debate and the students displayed their excellent critical abilities, a strength which has been on display from the Pius squad throughout the competition. Despite some complications in the draw due to the change to Wednesday debating, all students were focused and committed throughout the entire competition and represented the College admirably. We look forward to even better results next year.

Dr Lesley Gissane - Debating Convenor

Football

There were some great results on the weekend against a strong St Patrick’s outfit. Congratulations to Jasper Lindsell and Danny Kissane who have been named as NSWCIS shadow players after performing well in the NSWCIS Tournament. A reminder that there are no games over the long weekend with training resuming on Wednesday.

Rugby

The 1st XV delivered a determined performance to claim a gutsy win on Saturday, showing composure, resilience, and pride in the jersey. This fixture held special significance as part of Reconciliation Round, a time to reflect on our shared history and commit to a more inclusive future.

The 2025 theme - 'Bridging Now to Next' - emphasises the ongoing connection between the past, the present and future in the reconciliation journey.  This theme encourages all Australians to look ahead, learn from the past, and continue pushing forward together. Thank you to all the supporters, parents and players to turned up for what was a great day.

Squash

Well done on a good round.  All players put in solid efforts against their opponents. The overall skill level of players is improving. Take training seriously - every rally and serve at training improves your game knowledge and technique therefore improving your results on game day.

Please make sure you are prompt when arriving to the minibuses for training on Thursday afternoons.

There is no squash this weekend as it is a long weekend. I look forward to seeing you all at training Thursday afternoon.

Mr Paul Formosa - Squash Convenor

ISA Tennis

Last week, we had a fantastic weekend of tennis with students playing against Central Coast Grammar, St Augustine's, and St Paul's Grammar.

Congratulations to Divisions 1, 4, and 9 for their wins this week.

This week’s king of the court is Mac Hillsdon, who took down his opponent 6-0 at our home courts.

I hope everyone enjoys a relaxing long weekend this week. Our games will resume on Saturday, 14 June.

Please be advised that training on Tuesday, 10 June, has been cancelled. However, training will still proceed as planned on Wednesday, 11 June.
