Principal's Report

Public Education Week

Dear Families,

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 3!

This week, we are celebrating Public Education Week, a time to recognise the wonderful public schools in NSW. At Arncliffe West Infants School and Preschool, we are committed to giving our children the best possible start to their education. With our dedicated teaching and support staff, engaging lunchtime activities, a playground that sparks creativity, and exciting excursions, we strive to offer a variety of enriching experiences. Thank you for trusting us with your child's education.

As the Principal of our school, I take great pride in our public education system. My own journey began in public schools, where I created many cherished memories and developed a love for learning thanks to my wonderful teachers. Their influence inspired me to pursue a degree in Education and become a teacher myself. Now, as Principal, I am thrilled to lead our dedicated team in nurturing the next generation. Next year, I will also join you, as a parent of a child starting Kindergarten at our local public school!

Events This Week (Weather Permitting)

  • Open Classrooms: Join us on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM for an exciting writing lesson with your child (for K-2) or playtime for our preschool groups. We’ll wrap up the session with a short fruit break!
  • Playgroup: Parents of children aged 0-5 who are not yet enrolled in school are warmly invited to our playgroup in the purple room from 9:30 to 11:15 AM. Bring some snacks and water for your little one and enjoy a fun morning together!
  • Assembly: Come and enjoy our students' performances and witness some awards being presented by their teachers at 3:00 PM.
  • Kindergarten Information Session for 2026: If you know of a child starting Kindergarten next year at our school, please join us for an information session from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the K Red room.
  • Mongolian Naadam Festival: We invite parents to join us in celebrating the Naadam festival with our Mongolian community!

Being On Time for School

It’s essential for children to arrive at school every day, except when they are sick or have a valid reason for being absent. We have noticed that some students are arriving after the 9:30 AM bell, missing important parts of their lessons. Please make sure your child arrives between 9:00 and 9:30 AM each day. If you need to drop your child off earlier, TASK is available to assist.

Uniform Reminder

We want to ensure that all students wear appropriate footwear to school. All children should wear black school shoes, joggers/runners, or sandals with covered toes and good support. While shoes with some colour are acceptable, please avoid gumboots, crocs, thongs, and ugg boots. Below are examples of suitable footwear.

On Fridays, students can wear more colourful shoes, but they should still follow the guidelines. Also, please remember to wear the full school uniform from Monday to Thursday, reserving colourful clothes for Fridays only. We have some second-hand jumpers available if you'd prefer not to purchase new ones, and new uniforms can always be obtained from the front office.

Kind regards,

Bryce Hageman
