Assistant Principal - Curriculum
Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series
On Friday, 23 May, 24 of our Year 3 and Year 4 students participated in an exciting event as part of the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series. The Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series (VCES) provides a range of extension activities for high-ability students in Victorian government schools. These activities cover all areas of the Victorian Curriculum and are designed to engage, challenge and extend students’ learning.
Our students worked with a number of other schools through an exciting online session facilitated by Monash Tech School. Students used their measurement skills and knowledge of fractions to create dizzying pictures with squares. They investigated the relationships between spirals and fractions and explored the concept of infinity.
I had the pleasure of supervising the session with Shae Edwards and I was very proud to witness our students' problem solving skills, mathematical understandings and willingness to share their ideas and knowledge with the large online group.
Thank you to Andrea Smith, our High Ability Practice Leader, for organising this wonderful opportunity for our students. We look forward to hopefully being involved in more of these exciting extension opportunities in the future.
Toilets
As previously communicated, we have been working hard with our cleaning provider to ensure our toilet facilities are cleaned to the required standard and contain the necessary materials (soap, toilet paper etc). Pleasingly, our new area manager has been very proactive in rectifying many of our concerns and this has lifted the standard of the service provided.
Please remind your child to notify the office if they happen to visit the toilets and they notice that there is missing soap, toilet paper or they happen to notice damage to cubicle locks or dispensers. This way we are able to address the issue as soon as possible.
Thank you
Mr Brendan Garvey
