PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Year 10 Students Shine During Work Experience Week:  Last week, our Year 10 students stepped out of the classroom and into the real world as part of their much-anticipated work experience program. From bustling local businesses in Kerang to specialised placements further afield, our students explored a wide variety of career pathways—and every single one of them did us proud.

Some students remained close to home, gaining hands-on experience in local shops, childcare centres, offices, cafes, and even at the hospital. Whether assisting in retail or helping organise administrative tasks, these students showed enthusiasm and maturity, often impressing their supervisors with their initiative and professionalism.

Others travelled beyond Kerang, undertaking placements in Bendigo, Swan Hill, and even Melbourne. These opportunities included working in veterinary clinics, construction sites, graphic design studios, agriculture and farming enterprises, and even emergency services. One student spent the week shadowing a radiographer, while another experienced the fast pace of an automotive workshop. Several students also gained experience in hospitality and tourism, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how these industries operate.

Teachers and coordinators have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from employers and supervisors. Reports described our students as reliable, eager to learn, respectful, and proactive—traits that reflect their readiness to engage with the wider world beyond school.

Most importantly, students have returned with a deeper understanding of the expectations of the workforce, and many have discovered new interests or clarified future aspirations. Some even received offers to return for part-time or holiday work, a true testament to the excellent impression they made.

Congratulations to all Year 10 students for representing our school with such positivity and maturity. This will be a valuable stepping stone in your learning journey, and we can’t wait to see where your future paths may lead.

KTHS Goes Blue for Do It For Dolly Day:

Last Friday, our school community came together to support Do It For Dolly Day, an annual national event dedicated to promoting kindness and taking a stand against bullying. With students and staff dressed in every shade of blue, the message was clear: kindness matters, and everyone has a role to play in creating a safer, more inclusive world.

At lunchtime, the courtyard was buzzing with positive energy as students took part in a range of activities designed to spark conversation and connection. Whether it was through games, chats with friends, or simply enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, the day encouraged everyone to reflect on how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Badminton:

Last Tuesday, a group of enthusiastic KTHS students travelled to Bendigo to represent the school in the Regional Badminton Competition—and what a day it turned out to be!

Heading off with boisterous confidence, our students were ready to give it their all, and their efforts certainly paid off. The Senior Girls team put up a strong fight, demonstrating determination and skill in every match. They remained competitive throughout the day, pushing their opponents in some very close contests.

The highlight of the day came from our Intermediate Boys team, who performed exceptionally well and emerged winners of their division. Their outstanding performance has earned them the exciting opportunity to compete at the State level, a remarkable achievement that reflects both their talent and teamwork.

Beyond the competition, KTHS students showed excellent sportsmanship and leadership by assisting with umpiring games and supporting other teams throughout the event. Their conduct was noted as being respectful, helpful, and professional—qualities we are always proud to see in our students.

Well done to all who participated—your efforts, commitment, and team spirit continue to uphold the proud sporting tradition of our school. We wish the Intermediate Boys the best of luck as they prepare for the next stage of their journey!
