Students of French Set for New Caledonia Adventure!

Our Year 10 and Year 11 students are gearing up for an incredible journey filled with natural beauty and immersion into French language and culture. During the upcoming school holidays, these students will take part in an unforgettable school trip to New Caledonia!

New Caledonia, with its strong French influence, provides the ideal setting for language immersion, boosting student’s confidence, and enhancing French language skills and cultural understanding. During this trip, students will:

  • Speak French Every Day: Engage with locals, taste delicious French cuisine, and enhance language skills through daily interactions and classes.
  • Gain insights into Kanak culture, history, and traditions, fostering a deep appreciation for indigenous peoples.
  • Snorkel in crystal-clear waters in an unforgettable experience at Amédée Lighthouse.

‘Un Grand Merci’ to Ms Marion for organising this school trip, and to Mr Blackwell and Ms Sumpter for also accompanying our students on this incredible journey.

Stay tuned for updates and stories from this extraordinary expedition!

Oliver (G11)

I am excited to go to New Caledonia as there will be a lot of cultural experiences that are extremely different to Australia and it will be a lot warmer than Australia hopefully so that we are able to go swimming and snorkelling at the beaches and reefs. It will also be very fun to be in the company of our classmates which will only make the trip more memorable for all of us.

Clara (C11)

The language immersion trip to Noumea is a wonderful opportunity for us to boost our French knowledge, in terms of both vocabulary and speaking abilities. Our class is tremendously excited to experience the French culture of the island, visit local markets and historical sites, dine at authentic restaurants as well as make many new friends. I am certain this voyage will be a trip to remember, with memories that will last a lifetime.

Amaya (C11)

I am most excited to immerse myself in French culture by learning some more of the language as well as eating French food with my friends. I also can’t wait to go swimming when we go on our excursion to the lighthouse!
