And suddenly we find ourselves in Week 8, Term 3, 2023, more than halfway through the term. How time flies!
Are you one of those who asks where has the time gone? Or, wish you had more time?
We have been talking to the students about how important time is, that it is a gift, and that it is finite. It is important for all to realise that every moment that passes will never be ours again and as such must be treasured and used well. For children, making good choices about how they use their time is an understanding that is sometimes difficult to grasp.
Reflecting on the learning opportunities that have been provided for each student in the Junior School and how they have been celebrated, helps students create their history and the realness of time.
Alongside the outstanding teaching and learning opportunities provided for our students,
over the past 7 weeks we have used our time to support a variety of charities and recognised causes such as;
We have engaged in competitions, celebrations, and visits in such as;
From 86 schools our team placed 11th in engineering and 16th in Art and Poetry
And engaged with parents through:
Congratulations to our Junior School Public Speaking Competition Winners for 2023. These exceptional students demonstrated incredible dedication, poise, and ability to convey their thoughts with confidence. We look forward to watching them shine even brighter in the upcoming Showcases. The boys will present at Assembly in Week 8, and the girls in Week 9. Well done to the following Junior School champions: Audrey (JK), Parker (PK), Jasmine (J1), Xavier (P1), Cleo (J2), Kenneth (P2), Lila (J3), Jack (P3), Rose (J4), Austin (P4), Violet (J5), Sebastian (P5), Harper (J6) and Riley (P6).
During Term 3, P5J created amazing dioramas for their passion projects. They had free choice with the topic and how it was presented.
Ms James was very proud of all the students in her class for their effort and dedication to this personalised and independent style of learning.
There were a wide range of topics researched such as Greek Mythology, Evolution, WW2, Leonardo da Vinci, graphic novels, and physics.
Ms James also enjoyed learning more about her students’ passions/interests, and hopes they developed some research skills along the way! They most definitely displayed their grit and perseverance.
