News and Notices

 From the Principal

Term 3 turned out to be an extremely busy term with both staff and students battling the winter viruses. As a result I have spent a lot of time in the classroom which is completely delightful, but means that the newsletter was put on hold. Ka pai to our children who coped so well with changes to teachers and their normal routine, as well as sharing learning spaces with other classes.

Welcome!

We welcome Emma Smith who has joined our staff as a cleaner and Melanie Dillon who will be running the Out of School Care Programme. Carine Rombouts will be working in Wāhi Koru as a teacher aide until the end of the year.

Camp 2024

There will be a very important meeting for parents of all our current Year 3, 4 and 5s at 5.30pm on Tuesday 7 November. This is a meeting to talk about what the children will be doing at camp, parent helpers, and ways to raise money to help pay for the camp. Please diarise this date now.

Movie Night

A massive thank you to the parents who organised the movie night. A total of about $850 was raised.

Student-led Conferences

Thank you to everyone who attended our student conferences. It is lovely to hear and see our tamariki sharing their learning with you. Wāhi Koru will have their conferences in Week 1 of Term 4.

School Sunhats

Just a reminder that it is Board policy that all students wear the school sunhat in Terms 1 and 4. The hats are available to buy at the office for $15.

Out of School Care

Please can you make sure that you either phone the office or email office@ridgeview.school.nz to book your child into before or after school care. Please do not assume that we know when your child will be in care. For health and safety reasons, we need to know who is meant to be in care and who is not.

Fundraising on Election Day

RidgeView School will be a venue for voting on Election Day - 14 October 2023. We are looking to sell sausages from about 10am to 2pm to make some money for the school. The more families we have to help us, the shorter the time people will need to stay. It is also a great time to bring your children and get them to help. If you are able to help, please contact Rachael on principal@ridgeview.school.nz.

Matchbox Cars

We are looking to collect any little cars that you have that you no longer need. We have some very keen car enthusiasts who would be very grateful for any contributions.

Upcoming events:

23 October Labour Day

No school on this day.

27 October Whole School trip to North Harbour Gymnastics

24 November Teacher Only Day

No school on this day.

Community Volunteers

I am looking for opportunities to take small groups of children (3 or 4) into the community on Friday morning for an hour or two. If you know of someone we could help or something we could do, please make contact with the school.

Spare Clothes

Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform. This is for all children.

Telephone Number

Our new telephone number is 027 593 5963.
