From Mambourin and Tarneit Campus

More Mambourin Firsts!

The Mambourin children have had a term of firsts; our first swimming programme, our first Book Week and our continued introduction to new skills and learning. These experiences beyond the classroom have given the children authentic, real-life opportunities to transfer and apply their self-management skills. They have had to manage and organise their own belongings, follow instructions to make safe choices, overcome challenges and to work together to experience events beyond school.

The Mambourin campus has been supporting our children in practising and developing self-management skills. These are core schools within the PYP Curriculum Framework that children are taught, to build skills in collaboration, emotional regulation, building a positive mindset and in being able to tackle learning, even when it is difficult.

In the lower years of primary school, they develop these core skills through daily life. The development of these skills supports them in their academic growth. As they learn to manage their feelings, their belongings and to solve problems on their own; they are developing the foundational skills for how they will manage their learning, tackle a challenging question and ensure they complete a task. We are very proud of how our children are developing these skills and we are very appreciative of the ways in which their families are working with us to support the Mambourin students.

Junior Years Camps!

Year 3 Camp

Going away on camp for the first time is a huge event. The Year 3 students were very excited to take part in their first ever overnight camp.  There was a great buzz as they boarded the bus to travel away from home, leaving family, then settling into their campsite.

The camp included many great activities, some designed to take students out of their comfort zones through various challenges, which help build resilience and team building skills within the cohort.

Year 5 Camp

The camp program continued with Year 5 students heading off to experience life in the Goldrush era. They learnt much about an important time in Australia’s history… even panning for gold nuggets and going back in time to experience school in ‘the old days’.
