Teaching and Learning

News from Prep, One & Two

Wow nearly the end of Term already.

We have been busy in Maths looking at multiplication and have now changed to designing maps and describing where everything is located using co-ordinates. The children planned their own ideal backyard and completed co-ordinates for a Pirates Treasure Map.

In writing we have written a report about when the CFA visited our school and time permitting, we are publishing our information report about a person we know.

Integrated Studies has been all about Helpers in our community and we are now looking at the difference between Rules and Laws and how these are made and enforced.

News from  Year Three- Six

What better way to learn about grid referencing and using the Cartesian Plane than a competitive game Battleships! As you can see from the photos, this was a big hit with the kids. I was then able to roam the room to provide point of need teaching to those that still required more concept understanding. Fun and educational, who would have thought?  "YOU JUST SANK MY BATTLESHIP"

Music at Raywood

Our weekly music lessons continue each Wednesday afternoon and our students are absolutely loving these sessions. Each session is filled with singing, playing instruments, listening to music and most of all lots of smiles and laughter. Our sessions will continue to run until mid-way through Term 4.

MARC News- Book Week at Raywood Primary School

What a wonderful array of book characters we had at school last Thursday to celebrate Book Week. Great job everyone on the costumes and effort.

Mrs G has been busy over the last few months working with our students to shadow judge the shortlisted books in the Early Childhood Section (she capped it off with a wonderful Kev costume to represent the book Bev and Kev).

Our students made penguins based upon another shortlisted book Frank's Red Hat- they enjoyed creating their own wind up and hat clad penguins.

Art News

After what has seemed like an endless series of sessions our students

completed their weaving projects this week. Students had to create their own looms, weave the body of their "creature" or " character" and then decorate their weaving with felt and other objects. I am sure you will agree that these turned out very well indeed.

We have now begun our next challenge..... sewing. The junior grade are sewing spider webs onto foam trays, whilst the older children will be sewing onto card.

  Kelly Sports

Our students continue to enjoy weekly sports sessions facilitated by Kelly Sports. We are so lucky to have a large stadium and expansive grounds to use. Last week our students participated in tennis type activities and (as always) learnt some new skills, whilst having lots of fun.
