Year 2 News
What's The Buzz???
Over the last few weeks, it's been very busy in Year 2. We had a visit from our pen pals that we have been writing to since the beginning of the year, we completed our PYP rotations to celebrate the end of our unit Where we are in place and time, we’ve started our new unit of Inquiry Sharing the planet which the students are fully engaged in while continuing our day to day curriculum activities.
PYP Rotations
As a culmination of our unit of inquiry on Where we are in place and time the year 2 students took part in some fun and engaging rotation activities.
The students had a blast creating a Chinese New Year lantern, an Indian Rangoli pattern and a Carnivale mask.
It was gratifying for the teachers to witness how much knowledge and compassion the students possessed as a reward for some focused learning over the past few weeks.
My favourite rotation was the Carnivale masks because they were fun to make, and I liked making little decorations on them.

Pen pal Visit
On Monday 24 July the Year 2s had a visit from their Black Rock Primary School Pen Pals. Our students were so excited to meet their pen pals that they had been writing to since the beginning of the year.
There were squeals of excitement the pen pals approached our school grounds. We greeted the pen pals and welcomed them to BNPS. Our students had made signs with their pen pal’s names on them. We paired the pen pals up and then took them on a tour around our school.
There was lots of giggling and talking as we moved around our school. We then spent some time playing on our playgrounds, oval and with the school's sports equipment. The students ate their recess snack together and then enjoyed playing during our recess break before they returned to Black Rock Primary.
We hope you enjoy reading our student recounts of the morning.
