Term 3 - Willy Kids are Resilient

Weeks 7 & 8: Willy Kids Persevere

Perseverance means that as Willy Kids we work through challenges and always keep trying. Having perseverance means that when we are facing a challenge, we use our minds to overcome it. Perseverance means we are able to work through difficulties, whether they occur at home, in the schoolyard or within the classroom. It means that when things are difficult we don’t give up and walk away. It means we might have to try a bit harder; it means we might have to get someone to help us; it means we might have to try things a different way; but mostly it means we stick with what we set out to do until we are happy with the result.

Perseverance is the ability to do our best towards a goal, even though it’s a big challenge. It is very important for us to develop because life is full of challenges; and perseverance is what helps us get through the difficulties to get to what we want. There are all sorts of goals we can try and achieve. It might be a new game, a new musical instrument, or it could even be a new skill to learn at school. It might even be making a new friend or playing with a new group of people. Being persistent works best if we really give something a good try, look at it with a growth mindset, and stick at it even if it does not work out the first time.
