Principal's message

Kylie O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today was another of many firsts for me as we came together as a community to celebrate Book Week. Mrs Prichard, our librarian, did a fabulous job directing teachers in our performance of Roald Dahl’s Cinderella. Whilst every teacher put in noteworthy performances, Mrs Prichard stole the show with her portrayal of Cindy searching for her ‘decent guy.’

The children looked wonderful in their costumes and I thoroughly enjoyed the book week parade. I was particularly impressed that all of our year 6 Wallies could remember their book week character from when they were in kindergarten. Thank you to all the parents who attended this morning. We love it when you can join us to celebrate learning. Following the parade the children read and responded to wonderful picture books and played trivia in mixed age groups. Each class teacher wrote questions about the books the children had been working on in class so teams could only do well if every member participated.

Today we have a book week incursion performance to focus the children's attention to the power of poetry and the fun we can have with words. Please see the following link if you are interested in knowing the winners of Children's Book Council shortlisted titles. Next week the Scholastics Book Fair arrives just in time for our Fathers Day breakfast so Dad’s make sure you pop in next Thursday morning.

This newsletter I have quite a few reminders as we have lots coming up over the next couple of weeks.

Vacation Care

As the end date for booking vacation care approaches (Friday 23 August) it is important for all parents to understand that if our community does not show enough interest, SCECS cannot operate the service. If you would like to register but have not yet done so, please refer to the program and booking form for further information.

Father Day

Our STMM Fathers Day breakfast is happening from 7.30 am next Thursday  31/08/23. All fathers, grandfathers and father figures are warmly welcome to join us for coffee, egg and bacon rolls, games and Mass at 9.00 am. To assist with catering please ensure all bacon and egg roll orders are in by Friday.

Helpers - We are still looking for some early riser Mum’s to assist with the BBQ from 6.45 am. If you know your way around a BBQ and you are free please call the office or email info@stmmrandwick.catholic.edu.au and let us know.
