Embrace the Journey, Shape Our Future

Cultural Diversity Week is a time to celebrate Victoria’s multicultural identity, running from Monday 17th March to Sunday 23rd March 2025. This year’s theme, "Embrace the Journey, Shape Our Future" highlights the unique stories that shape our communities and encourages cultural connections.

Important Cultural Events

During the week, we also recognise these special occasions:

  • Ramadan (27th Feb - 30th Mar 2025): A sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims.

  • Lent (5th March - 17th April): Lent is a 40-day period of preparation leading up to Easter. It's a time of fasting, prayer, and is observed by many Christians.

  • Holi (21st Mar 2025): A colourful Hindu festival celebrating spring.

  • Harmony Day (21st Mar 2025): An Australian event promoting respect and belonging.

Cultural Diversity Week at ENPS

Throughout Week Eight, students will explore different cultures through engaging activities.

On Friday 21st March (Harmony Day and our Countries of ENPS Day), students are encouraged to wear cultural clothing or a touch of orange, symbolising respect and inclusiveness.

They will also take part in Countries of ENPS, where parent volunteers will lead cultural activities in mixed-age groups throughout the day.

Cultural Diversity Assembly

We will conclude the week with a special Intercultural Celebration Assembly on Friday 21st March at 2:20pm in the school gym.

Students, teachers, and families are invited to showcase their cultural talents!

We welcome:

🎶 Traditional dances and music

📖 Storytelling and poetry

🎤 Instrumental or vocal performances

Get Involved!

If you would like to perform, please email Mrs Mac at sharon.mcwhinney@education.vic.gov.au by 14th March 2025.

Family Postcard Project – Celebrating Cultural Diversity

Last week all students were provided a postcard template to take home for our Family Postcard Project! This activity is a wonderful opportunity for students and their families to share their cultural identity and family traditions, as we continue to learn from and celebrate others! These postcards will be proudly displayed across the school, highlighting the rich diversity that makes ENPS so special.

How to Participate:

  • Use the postcard template provided (one side only) to creatively represent your family's cultural heritage.

  • Include your family name on the postcard.

  • You may use colours, drawings, symbols, or patterns that reflect your culture.

  • If adding photos, please print them on plain paper (not photo paper) so we can laminate them.

  • Keep all artwork and designs within the postcard template.

Please return completed postcards to the school front office by Monday 17th March. A copy of the postcard is attached below if needed.

We appreciate your participation in this meaningful project and can’t wait to see the beautiful postcards that will celebrate the strength of our diverse ENPS community!

Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm.

Warm regards,

The ENPS Community Engagement and Cultural Inclusion Team
