Year Three

Guest Speaker Reflection – Mrs Barletta’s Visit
As part of our Unit of Inquiry: How We Organise Ourselves, we had the privilege of welcoming Mrs Barletta, our principal, as a guest speaker. She spoke to us about our central idea: "Communities respond to local needs".
Mrs Barletta helped us understand what makes a community by highlighting that ENPS itself is a community, consisting of 605 students, 61 staff members, and 450 families. She emphasized that every member - students, families, and staff - plays an important role in ensuring our school remains a safe, kind, and respectful place for everyone.
She also explained the responsibilities of being a principal, which include ensuring the wellbeing and safety of students and staff, as well as making important decisions about staffing, finances, expenses, grounds and maintenance, facilities, programs, resources, excursions, camps, and community events.
Another key part of her role is transparent communication with families, using Compass to share important information. She stressed that at ENPS, everyone’s voice is heard and respected.
This discussion deepened our understanding of community roles and how we all contribute to making ENPS an inclusive, safe and friendly place.
Below are some of our student reflections:
We are so excited for our local walk to Niddrie Library next week to explore other services that cater to our community’s needs and wants. We wonder what we'll discover!
Thanks Mrs Barletta.
