Celebrating Progress and Joy in Our School Community
As we enter the third week of Lent, a time for reflection and growth, I am excited to share some wonderful developments from our school community. Recently, Kelly and I had the privilege of presenting at the AGOSCI Conference, where we spoke about our journey to AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) implementation. It was a rewarding experience, and we were pleased to see how well our presentation was received. Our story of growth, challenges, and successes resonated with many, and we are excited to continue this important work to support all of our students to have a voice.
In addition to this, we’ve been making great progress in our ongoing work with comprehensive literacy. We are already seeing improved outcomes for our students, as they continue to develop their literacy skills in meaningful and engaging ways. One of the most exciting aspects of this journey is the joy the students are experiencing during their library visits. Under the guidance of Lisa-Jayne, each library lesson is thoughtfully designed to link to the students’ individual and class goals. These lessons not only enhance their literacy skills but also inspire a love of books, reading and the discovery of new topics.
As we move forward, we continue to be inspired by the progress we’re seeing. Lent reminds us to focus on growth, and we’re so proud of the growth we’re witnessing in our students. We look forward to continuing this journey of learning , and to celebrating many more successes along the way.
This year I am fortunate to be part of Leadership Program with school leaders from a range of Catholic Schools in Australia. Last week we had our first 2 days together in Melbourne and the learning was rich and inspiring. We focussed on our purpose for leading in Catholic Schools and we reflected on our commitment to the stewardship of sustainable, quality schools. I will be engaged in this program until September and look forward to sharing some insights with you along the way. We heard from a range of speakers in Melbourne and they all shared great wisdom but one statement stayed with me " always speak with love in your voice" and it is one that I know truly reflects the St Patrick's community.
Blessings and kind regards
