Reminder - Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The challenge begins in the first week of March and runs until the end of August. Our Library Action Team will be distributing class lists with a login and a password for each student to add books and reviews.

Here’s a little bit about the Premiers’ Reading Challenge:

The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 4.3 million students have read over 60 million books. This year’s Challenge is about reading as many different books as possible, discovering new ideas and new favourites. There are different goals for different reading levels, and thousands of books to choose from on the Premiers’ Reading Challenge booklist.

Through the Challenge Alphington Primary School is encouraging our students to read as much as they can, discovering new ideas and interests.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers.

Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

Every APS student can take part in the Challenge regardless of their reading ability or preferred format. There is also room to review each book that you have read. Reading student reviews is a great indication of the books that the children at school enjoy and dislike the most. There are brutally honest reviewers amongst us, and reading them all is a joy!

Each APS student will be able to access their own page to log all of their read books. This can be done at school and at home. Your child can choose to bring their password home and add to their booklist.

I hope you and your child enjoy being part of the 2025 Premiers’ Reading Challenge.
