Term 1

This term in Technology lessons, all GRPS students started by focusing on eSafety. We explored how to be responsible and respectful digital citizens by caring for ourselves, others, and our devices. In Years 3 and 4, we also learned how to find information from credible sources. Meanwhile, Years 5 and 6 delved into understanding digital identity and creating strong, secure passwords.

In the second half of the term, we shifted our focus to digital systems.

Students in Years 1 to 4 explored the basics of hardware, software, and algorithms — understanding that algorithms are a series of steps or rules to help solve problems. In Years 5 and 6, students learned about data processing and how information is represented using binary code.

Our youngest learners in Prep had an exciting time exploring three apps by Duck Duck Moose: "Draw and Tell," "Fairy Tale Maker," and "Comic Book Maker." They began by creating "All About Me" posters featuring moving stickers and voice recordings, then advanced to crafting their own mini animated stories.
