Northern Star Chess Tournament

Primary Open Zonal interschool chess tournaments will be getting into full swing again for 2025 during the last two weeks of this term. 

Term 1

Term 1 is never the busiest time for interschool competition, especially since the NAPLAN period moved over from Term 2.  Northern Star Chess has 3 Primary Open Zonal options available in Term 1.  There is still capacity at all.

• Wed 26 March at Kryal Castle, Ballarat
• Mon 31 March at Karingal PS, Frankston
• Wed 2 April at Kangaroo Ground PS

Term  2 

Terms 2 and 3 will have a lot more tournaments, and we do invite our host schools to book in their dates nice and early.  We currently have 6 tournaments locked in, as follows:

• Tues 13 May at Balwyn North PS
• Wed 14 May at Hampton Park PS
• Thurs 5 June at Peninsula Grammar School, Mt Eliza
• Tues 17 June at Viewbank PS
• Thurs 19 June at Lilydale PS
• Wed 25 June at Ivanhoe Grammar School, Doreen Campus (which is in northern suburbs, not in Ivanhoe!)
• Fri 27 June at Kangaroo Ground PS

We expect still to book in a couple of further events in Term 2, including one on the west side of town.

All of these tournaments run from 9.30am to 2.00pm, and are open to school teams of all sizes, including individuals.  The cost is unchanged at $25 per player.
