The 2025 School Production

All children, across all year levels will be involved in this year's production. We understand that many of our young children may find the idea of standing on a stage, singing and dancing 'scary'. Performance anxiety or 'stage fright' is something that even adults will find difficult to deal with. Rather than focusing on the negative feelings and physical manifestations of this - tummy aches, tears, anxiety, it is so much more helpful to explain to children why their bodies react in this way and the positive benefits on the brain, bodies and performances that will result from a bout of nerves before a performance.
Try having this discussion:
Q: What can you feel inside your body when you are nervous?
A: Your heart rate increases, you may feel butterflies in your tummy?
When your heart rate increases, your blood pumps faster, supplying blood to your brain, which helps you to think clearly and leads to increased concentration. It supplies you with extra energy. Clear thinking and increased energy are essential ingredients when performing. So embrace the nerves/performance anxiety. It is actually a good thing.
This year's production, 'Shrek Jr', will be performed over two nights.
NIGHT 1 - Wednesday 8th October
NIGHT 2 - Thursday 9th October
Students will be allocated ONE night to perform.
Students in Prep, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4 will be allocated a performance night by surname. Surnames beginning with A through to L will be SWAMP cast 1 and surnames beginning with M through to Z will be CASTLE cast 2.
The years 5s and 6s will be allocated a night/cast individually, according to their main role. Students with a main role received information regarding which cast they have been allocated to during Performing Arts lessons this week. All other years 5s and 6s, (those without a named role) will follow the A-L and M-Z rule.
NIGHT 1 - Wednesday 8th October - SWAMP cast 1 (Years Prep - 4: A - L)
NIGHT 2 - Thursday 9th October - CASTLE cast 2 (Years Prep - 4: M - Z)
As always, there are a couple of exceptions to the rule. We may have had to allocate your child to a specific cast, due to having an older sibling in the main cast. If your child's performance night falls outside of the procedure outlined above, you will be contacted individually to confirm performance nights.
