Term 1 News

At the start of each year, all students at Great Ryrie create a self-portrait, which they receive as a folio of work upon graduating. Each year level focuses on different skills and materials to enhance their artistic abilities.

• Prep students concentrated on developing form and improving their coloring techniques.
• Grade 1 students built on these skills by adding facial details and using rubbing blocks to create shadow and depth.
• Grade 2 students explored their creativity through cartoon-like paper collages for their self-portraits.
• Grades 3 and 4 are currently crafting masterpiece paintings inspired by the vibrant pop art style of Romero Britto.
• Grade 5 students have just completed their abstract pastel drawings, drawing inspiration from the work of artist Sandra Silberzweig.
• Grade 6 students are putting the finishing touches on their manga-style drawings.
