Seeking Office Bearers & Event Leaders for 2025

Parents’ Club will be hosting their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, March 18. Each year, the Club must vote in new Office Bearers and we currently have 4x positions to fill. You don’t need experience, you just need to be proactive, dependable, and most importantly, committed to take the lead.

Our school community thrives because of the dedication of our club parents, but right now, we could really use more of you. With over 500 students attending Newport Lakes; it’s unfortunate that less than 5% of the students' parents are carrying the weight of fundraising, organising, and running events that all the students enjoy and benefit from.

What are we fundraising for then?

This year is a big one for the Club’s fundraising efforts! Partnering with volunteers for the 2025 Twilight Fete, we’re aiming to raise significant funds just as the last fete did to support something special for the school. Every dollar raised from our events goes straight back into the school, supporting fun experiences like Grade Discos, Icy Pole/Milo Mornings, and special event days, as well as important wellbeing programs like Fresh Fruit Mondays, uniform care, lunchtime art supplies, and emergency lunches. All spending is carefully guided by the School Office and Council to ensure the greatest impact for our students.

What are the Office Bearer Positions & Event Leaders?

Role of President

The president is the spokesperson for NPLS Parent’s Club (PC); generating enthusiasm and interest in the club within our School Community. The President is the facilitator of the club, having oversight over programs, fundraising and events being run by Parents’ Club (but certainly isn’t responsible for running them all!).

Duties include:

  • Setting up agenda and running Monthly Meetings
  • Providing brief Parent’s Club update for School Newsletter (fortnightly or as needed)
  • Monitor Parent’s Club email communications and key responder
  • Overseeing the management of PC run events, fundraising and programs
  • Liaise with Principal and school staff  to see how best the Club can assist the school community

Role of Vice President

The Vice President of the Parents’ Club plays a vital role in supporting the President and ensuring the smooth running of events and activities throughout the year. They assist in planning, organizing, and managing responsibilities, helping to share the workload so no one person in an Office Bearing role is overwhelmed.

Role of Secretary

The main tasks of the secretary are assisting the President and VP with preparation of the meeting agendas, assisting with correspondence and other necessary admin to keep the club organised. They also take the monthly meeting minutes and assist in sharing Club related communications around the school community.

Role of Treasurer

The treasurer works with the School Business Manager to report, budget and manage the Parent’s Club Financials.

Duties include:

  • Setting up an annual budget for projected events for the year.
  • Acquiring a copy of the PC financial statement to present for each meeting.
  • Tracking and keeping meticulous logs for all fundraising efforts throughout the year.
  • Ensuring all Club donations are aligned with the school's ethics and CompassTix rules.

Role of Program & Event Leaders

Our office bearers and dedicated members already juggle managing the Club alongside their own work, families, and commitments - so we’re calling on you to help lighten the load.

By volunteering as a program or event leader, you’re not just supporting the school; you’re creating wonderful experiences for your child and their classmates.

We need proactive, dependable, and enthusiastic parents to take charge of some of the exciting programs and events planned for the year. Take a look at the list below, and if one speaks to you, please raise your hand—we can’t do it without you!

We understand that not everyone is able to offer their time to help at school events but there are other ways you could help. Parents Club are seeking feedback from families who may have the capacity to support the school and Parents Club in other ways through their work, hobbies, skills or connections. For example, discounts, vouchers, donations of products for raffles or prizes, venue hire and more!
