Visual Arts

A celebration of our creativity

What's happening in the art room?

Prep

Prep students have started their first final piece for the art show. They began by painting a watercolour background using the colours of the rainbow. After reading My First Book of Patterns, they traced their hands and filled them with a variety of patterns, developing their design and fine motor skills.

Year 1/2

Students have been creating their final flower artwork, inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe. Using paint sticks, they outlined their flowers with a focus on proportion, reflecting O’Keeffe’s style. They then selected a single colour for the flower’s interior and a complementary colour for the background to enhance contrast.

Year 3/4

Students explored Andy Warhol’s series featuring endangered animals before choosing one of 36 animals to draw. Using a grid technique, they sketched their chosen animal in their sketchbooks, dividing it into four quadrants for accuracy. The following week, they began their final, larger-scale drawings.

Year 5/6

Students explored Gabrielle Young’s sea life series before sketching a sea creature of their choice in their sketchbooks. The following week, they selected a final sea creature and began their final drawing.
