Year 2

Police Incursion

This term, our Year 2 students explored the theme of "All About Me," diving into various job possibilities and learning about safety and wellbeing. One of the most exciting parts of our exploration was a special visit from our local police force!

They brought us some incredible insights into their work, gave us a peek behind the scenes, and even let some of the kids get hands-on with their equipment.

The officers shared incredible stories about their canine partners and how these trained dogs play a vital role in their daily duties. The kids were amazed to hear about the bond between the officers and the dogs.

One of the most popular activities was letting the kids hold a police shield! Many were surprised by how heavy it was, but they quickly appreciated the strength and protection it provides during operations.

Another thrilling moment was when the officers showed us their undercover police car. As a special treat, the officers turned on the sirens, and everyone was amazed by the loud sound!

The officers also showed us pictures and explained what goes into their daily work. It gave us a deeper understanding of the challenges and dedication required to keep our community safe.

Here are a few comments from our students:

"I didn't know there were undercover cars."   Dia

"My favourite part was seeing the stripes on their uniform and feeling the shield."   Owen and Elizabeth

"I learned that the police had pepper spray."   Iris

We’re so grateful to our local police officers for taking the time to share their work with us. The police visit was a memorable experience for everyone!
