From the Principal

As I am sure everyone is already aware, this will be my last year at PVS as I am retiring and moving down to the south-west. It was a hard decision, and Pioneer Village School will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a school like no other, a place where everybody values the relationships with each other, brings each other joy, and genuinely makes the staff glad to be a part of such a wonderful school.
In my nine years tenure we have completed a lot. From enhancing the learning programs, support programs, gifted and talented programs to providing a wide variety of educational experiences for our children. We’ve expanded the school population, registered our kindergarten with ECRU which is ensuring our youngest learners have an exceptional start to their schooling life. We have said goodbye to some long-standing staff members as they headed off to retirement, and welcomed new staff members to our school.
We also had to endure one of the biggest challenges most of us will have to endure in our lifetimes, the pandemic, and had to adjust to delivering an online experience for our families. The nine years have been filled with other challenges too, but I’ve enjoyed every single one of them and learnt from them all. Most of all I have loved being a part of your children’s lives and know from their smiles that they appreciate everything I do for them as well.
As I am sure you are all aware, I believe in the importance of positivity. Every Monday we have our Values Assembly. This assembly allows us to unpack and share insight into how we should operate in this world as caring, kind and socially connected human beings. A reoccurring topic is kindness because it is so important to build this quality in ourselves and our children. Kindness, compassion, and care is the key to happiness. My daughter and I often talk about how wonderful the world would be if we just showed each other daily kindness, and considered other people’s feelings as we went about our daily tasks regardless of whether we know that person or not. I sincerely hope our children remember me in future years as the Principal who made the effort to learn everyone's names, who showed a keen interest and cared about them all, had a happy disposition, and of course as someone who tried to spread joy and happiness. A smile on your face every single day can make such a difference in the lives of anybody. As I get older I realise how significant this is. Whether you’re at the shops, at work, or with your family, everybody feels better when they see somebody smile at them. A smile and kind words can make or break someone’s day.
Obviously, the year is not over yet and there is still a lot to be done. I know I will cherish every event of 2025 as I won’t get to experience them again, and as per usual I will probably shed a few tears of joy and pride at these events!
The School Board has begun the recruitment process and I’m looking forward to meeting who they select. Whoever steps into this role will be very lucky to be selected to be a part of such a community.
Warm regards,
Louise
Retirement news
Our beloved Mrs Mac has officially retired from teaching. As many of you are aware Mrs Mac has had a long history with our school, starting here in 1990 in a full time capacity and moving to relief teaching. There are many parents at our school who were fortunate to have had her firstly as their teacher, and then had the pleasure of her teaching their children too. Mrs Mac will be sorely missed but we wish her all the best for the next chapter in her life.
Social worker
After a very successful advertising campaign for a school support worker we are excited to announce that Ms Ruzive will be joining us from Term 2 on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Ms Ruzive is passionate about supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students and we are looking forward to her joining the team.
